Two Roads Woodworking is committed to the use of sustainable products and responsibly sourced woods. We use the CITES appendices and the IUCN Red List as guides to ensure responsible wood use.
We believe creativity is vital.
At Two Roads Woodworking, we march to our own drum. We don’t strive to be like anyone else, just the best us we can be. This is the cornerstone of our creative process.
We shop small.
We seek to work with and support other small businesses, especially in our search for mills, sawyers, suppliers, designers, and markets.
My journey as a woodworker began building sets for theaters. I never had a desire to be on stage. I much preferred the opportunity to tinker in the quiet and create something which had previously only existed in someone's head as a creative vision.
That desire to tinker in the quiet has grown into something new. I still create things that only exist in someone’s head, only now that creative vision is mine. The dark stage is now a small shop filled with loud music and louder tools. The "something" is typically a simple household item, with a simple design, crafted to best exhibit the beauty of the wood. I design by contrasting wood types and grain pattern. I seek to highlight particularly outstanding pieces of lumber by pairing them with quiet, simple elements. I incorporate fabric or metal to create new textures.
I prioritize finding responsibly sourced, distinct materials from trusted, family-owned lumberyards and sawyers that practice responsible forestry. I strive to work with environmentally friendly products from small vendors that support the community of small woodworking shops across the country.
